Simon Isgar is a Partner and heads up Kennedys LLP’s MENA corporate and regulatory insurance practice. He is a qualified barrister and was called to the Bar in 1998 practising commercial and company law matters. He has higher rights of audience in the courts of England & Wales.
Simon has 13 years extensive experience in representing international insurers and international intermediaries in the medical and life insurance markets globally. He is a specialist in international health regulation and health insurance law. He advises on international regulatory issues with medical and life insurers including policy wordings, meeting with foreign regulators, interpreting foreign regulations/laws applicable to foreign insurers and agents and general international compliance matters. He advises insurance intermediaries on placement of risks and products in foreign markets including underwriting agents and brokers He has extensive experienced in corporate insurance transactional work including setting up international insurers and agents in foreign markets through local incorporation, reinsurance arrangements and partnering with local licenced primary insurers in all lines of insurance specifically life and health. He has represented the UK largest life insurer advising them with the distribution of their international medical insurance products in the Middle East and Asia regions as well as acting for US carries and Lloyds of London specialist medical and accident and health underwriting syndicates.
Simon is a member of the DIFC Insurance Association and sits on the regulatory and Life & Health committees
